Safety Shield Concept Technology Initiatives
“SAFETY SHIELD”~ the vehicle that helps protect people ~
The vehicle activates various barriers according to the circumstances, from normal driving to post-accident, to help maintain distance from potentially dangerous conditions or help mitigate injuries should a collision occur.

Driver support system
- In addition to visual display and audio alerts, the system supports driver’s intuitive operation to help avoid potential risks.

Technologies to be introduced
- Each technology, including two new ones, to be introduced today.

Distance Control Assist (DCA) 
- Helps drivers control the distance between their vehicle and the
vehicle in front by assisting them in switching to the brake pedal from the accelerator pedal.

Forward Collision Avoidance Assist Concept 
- Activate warning and start partial braking in order to help driver avoid a situation where emergency braking is necessary.
- If the driver does not decelerate the vehicle in time, emergency braking is activated.

Forward Collision Avoidance Assist Concept 
- Estimated maximum speed that the vehicle can help avoid
collision : 60km/h

Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) 
- When the vehicle is getting close to lane markers as a result of driver inattention, LDP assists the driver in returning the vehicle to its designated lane.

Blind Spot Intervention (BSI) 
- BSI assists the driver in returning the vehicle back toward the
center of the lane of travel, away from a vehicle detected in an adjacent lane.

Back-up Collision Intervention (BCI) 
- When the driver starts backing up and objects are detected,
BCI helps the driver avoid collision by activating the brakes.

Around View Monitor (AVM) 
- AVM assists the driver in parking the car, with the monitor displaying an image of the vehicle from above.

Moving Object Detection (MOD) 
- Informs the driver of moving objects around the vehicle.
- Helps the driver when maneuvering at low speeds.
